Welcome

The Church in the Village Hall….

King’s Stanley Baptist Church (KSBC) is a small, friendly, local Baptist church that meets at 10.30 am every Sunday in the village hall in King’s Stanley, near the towns of Stroud and Stonehouse in Gloucestershire.

It’s a sad reality that many people feel they’d not be welcome at church. Just to be clear, King’s Stanley Baptist Church celebrates diversity in all its forms. We believe God made us all delightfully different, and we positively welcome everyone. We welcome people of all colours and backgrounds. We welcome people with any disability; we welcome people with learning disabilities. We welcome people who are neurodivergent. We welcome people with mental health problems. We welcome people who find life tough, and those who find it a breeze. We promise a warm welcome to spiritual seekers, committed Christians, atheists, folk from other religions. We promise a welcome to you. One more thing: We also welcome well-behaved dogs and their owners!

Today’s world is complex and confusing and it’s not always easy to apply the ancient truths of the Bible to modern concerns and issues. Our aspiration is to take the Bible seriously but also to search for ways of applying the sacred text that bring life, peace, community, love and hope to all. Come along and help us do that.

Our minister

Our new minister, the Revd David Sutcliffe has been with us since October 2023. He is a gifted speaker who emphasises the inclusive nature of Christ’s message. He graduated with a first class degree in Contextual Theology at Manchester University, was ordained in 1999, and has had pastorates in the West Midlands and in Surrey. He has experience of pioneering work in Africa, and is a keen educator of adults. His vision is simple: If God’s love is really there, then it must be there for all categories of people.

David is keen to nurture in King’s Stanley village hall a Christian community that is positive, inclusive, peace-making, pro-community, intelligent, welcoming, warm. Come along and help him make that happen! David is seen here with his daughter on a recent trip to Florida.
